	''Jan Elen'' is professor at the Department of Educational Sciences of the K.U.Leuven. He earned his PhD in 1993 at the same university with a dissertation that analysed the relationship between descriptive and prescriptive instructional design statements. For a period of 10 years he has been responsible for the educational support office of the K.U.Leuven.
